Tina: her portrait in hi-fi, Mason Gregory and His Orchestra, C-C Clubs, Inc., LP, 1957
This is a album of classical musical pieces performed by Mason Gregory and His Orchestra, which purportedly represent the personality and life of Tina Louise, cult movie and TV actress, best known of course as Ginger Grant, the "movie star" marooned on the Pacific island in the classic TV sitcom, "Gilligan's Island."
Miss Louise does not perform at all on this LP, these are all orchestral pieces. However, there is a beautiful technicolor portrait of her on the front cover of the LP and the back cover has an essay allegedly written by her about what the music on the album means to her, along with a short biography of Tina and Mason Gregory's comments on the purpose of the album.
The tracks on this album are: Side One: 1) Gold and Silver Waltz (Lehar), 2) My Hero (Straus), 3) Destiny Waltz (Baynes), 4) Espana (Waldteufel), Side Two: 1) Fascination (Marchetti), 2) Sleepy Lagoon (Coates), 3) Salut d'amour (Elgar), 4) En Badinant (d'Ambrosio), 5) Une chanson d'amour (Toselli), 6) Pizzicato (Delibes), 7) Barcarolle (Offenbach), 8)Waltz from Coppelia (Delibes). The album is in good condition, moderate wear to the sleeve with splits along the edges and ringwear. A previous owner has written his name in blue ink on the left bottom end of the back cover. The LP itself is in good condition. There are a couple of small skips on the first track on Side Two. Otherwise, it plays well with little surface noise.
