For Sale: Tom Petty - Live Anthology 7 LP 180G vinyl box set. New sealed - purchased by me upon release and from my own personal collection.
Seven 180gm vinyl LP box set containing live recordings drawn from 30 years of live performances. The collection brings together material from 1978-2007 culled from hundreds of hours of live concert recordings covering every era of Tom Petty a& The Heartbreakers' tours and represents the best tracks as chosen by producers Tom Petty, Mike Campbell and Ryan Ulyate. 51 tracks mastered directly from the uncompressed 24-bit 96K files and pressed on seven audiophile quality vinyl LPs. Includes deluxe book with liner notes offering personal perspective on the band and their music by Tom Petty, Warren Zanes, Bill Flanagan, Robert Hilburn, Joel Selvin, Austin Scaggs, and Phil Sutcliffe. Special packaging in an album sized bound book with seven pockets to hold the discs, and a removeable booklet in the back.

To fully appreciate this wonderful collection of the late Tom Petty's music, you need to understand what it is and what it isn't. What it isn't is a greatest hits compilation. What it is is a representative sampling of some of the best of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' songs, both original and covers, performed live over more than a quarter century from 1980-2007, curated by Mr. Petty himself with no post-production overdubs or 'sweetening'. In Petty's eloquent introduction to this '7LP 51 track' collection, he notes that the Heartbreakers were at their core a live band and that these recordings represent the best of what they were, presented not in chronological order but in a sequence that might approximate the ebb and flow of a live performance. Most of their familiar hits are included in this collection but perhaps more interesting are the covers including the Greatful Dead's "Friend of the Devil", Booker T & the MGs' "Little Green Onions" and an instrumental rendition of the theme from the James Bond movie "Goldfinger" that show off the true range and depth of the band's talent. Listening to this wonderful collection is made all the more poignant by Mr. Petty's recent passing, making it a must-have collection for any Heartbreakers fan and a top choice for the casual listener who's inclined to dig past their many radio hits.
