Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers “Damn the Torpedoes” LP. This is PROMO specimen, with PROMO info stamped onto cover. This copy was pressed at the Pinckneyville MCA pressing plant, denoted by the ?-P-? in the runout.

Please look closely at the center labels - MCA Records (beneath Backstreet Records) is in black ink. (It is often in gold ink.)

Etched and Stamped in Runouts:

Side 1 Etched: MCA 2015-SS3

Side 2 Etched: MCA 2016-SS4

Stamped on Both Sides [gc is etched]: ?-P-? STERLING gc

There are several variants of runout etchings, and this particular set of etchings seems to be less common. Furthermore, according to the research I have done, this etching variant typically appears on Pinckneyville pressings that have “MCA Records” in gold ink on the center label. So between the label and runout combination, and the fact that it is a PROMO, this appears to be a fairly rare and collectible specimen. (Again, this is just a conclusion I have drawn based on the research I have done into to variants of this album.)

Grading vinyl is very subjective, so the grade given is only MY OPINION. So in my opinion:

The record is Very Good+. There are some VERY light scratches on both sides that DO NOT affect play.

Sleeve is Very Good+ as well. The INNER sleeve shows some light wear along two of the edges, and one corner is creased. (See photos for close-ups) The OUTER sleeve has a small amount of ring-wear on the front. Also, there is some other wear, particularly corners/edges, nothing major though. (Please see photos)
