A Few Words About These Songs... x I am often asked to tell the stories behind my songs. Even though some of the songs on this album are self- explanatory, I want to mention a few in particular. I wrote “HAVEN’T I BEEN GOOD TO YOU" when I was nine years old. It is the first full song I ever wrote and I have always loved it. o' Even though I wrote “HARPER VALLEY P.T.A." I have never recorded it until now. I wrote “BACK POCKET MONEY” for the late Stringbean of The Grand Ole Opry. Jimmy Newman recorded it so quickly I never did show it to String. "CLAYTON DEUXNEY” was a real person and a childhood hero. Many people, hearing this song believe that Clayton was an old man. In fact, he died when he was about nineteen years of age. The other songs on this album pretty much speak for themselves.^, I hope. I want to thank the Storytellers for helping me on this album. They are good musicians and great folks to travel with.
