Tom Waits – Rain Dogs UK 1985 Island Rock, Blues Rock
Thomas Alan Waits is an American musician, composer, songwriter, and actor. His lyrics often focus on the underbelly of society and are delivered in his trademark deep, gravelly voice. He worked primarily in jazz during the 1970s, but his music since the 1980s has reflected greater influence from blues, rock, vaudeville, and experimental genres. Rain Dogs is his ninth studio album, released in September 1985 on Island Records. A loose concept album about "the urban dispossessed" of New York City, Rain Dogs is generally considered the middle album of a trilogy that includes Swordfishtrombones and Franks Wild Years.
The custom printed laminated, card sleeve would certainly conservatively grade as EX+ to NM. It shows hardly any signs of handling and storage wear. The spine is readable and the entry edge shows minimal signs of use. No ring wear.
The original printed lyric inner is undamaged apart from some foxing on one side. Despite this it easily grades as VG+.
The vinyl is without doubt EX+ to NM and has not been played much. The Island labels are unmarked with just one or two spindle marks. On play grading there was a little light crackle on the run in on both sides but nothing substantial, maybe a rare pop or click (certainly nothing to spoil the enjoyment of the record - even at high volume), during the remainder of the album. It plays superbly with very strong audio. The surface is very clean, glossy and shiny with no noticeable marks, a superb copy that conservatively grades as EX+.
