TONTON MACOUTE: britische Progressive-Rock-Band, aus Berkshire County. Die Formation ging aus der Gruppe “Windmill“ hervor, nachdem deren Sänger und Gitarrist Dick Scott bei einem Autounfall ums Leben kam. Die Musik Tonton Macoutes ist stark vom Jazz beeinflusst, wodurch ihr Sound auch als Progessive Jazz Rock bezeichnet werden kann. Da ihre Musik aber auch psychedelische anklänge aufweist, erinnern sie teilweise auch an Bands der Canterbury Scene wie Caravans, Soft Mashine etc. Ihr Album auf RCA Neon war die einzige Veröffentlichung der Band.

Vinyl: “Very Good Plus“ Eigentlich könnte die Platte fast als Near Mint durchgehen. Da aber einige kleinere Mängel vorhanden sind, habe ich sie vorsichtshalber als VG+ deklariert. Die LP hat feine Oberflächenwischer, die vermutlich größtenteils durch das Rein und Rausziehen aus der Innenhülle entstanden sind. Einige leichte Oberflächenkratzer sind ebenfalls vorhanden. Da sie aber von einem leichten Tonarm verursacht wurden, habe sie nur geringen Einfluss auf die Tonqualität. Nur sehr wenige vereinzelte milde Klicks sind hörbar. Ein leises knistern in der Einlaufrille, zwischen einigen Tracks und an manchen ruhigen Stellen, ist vermutlich auf die Pressung zurückzuführen. Ansonsten sind aber keine hörbaren gröberen Kratzer vorhanden. Die LP wurde mit Kopfhören geprüft, über Lautsprecher sind die leisen Grundgeräusche viel geringer wahrnehmbar. Die Label sind sehr gut erhalten.
Das Klappcover ist noch recht gut erhalten, nur an den Rändern zeigt die Laminierung, an einigen Stellen, leicht Abnutzungserscheinungen. Das Cover weist an den Rändern Abnutzungserscheinungen auf. Davon ist auch der Coverrücken betroffen, die dortige Beschriftung ist aber noch lesbar. Leserlich. Die Ecke rechts unten ist ganz leicht angestoßen, es sind aber keine stärker geknickten Ecken oder Risse vorhanden. Das Innere des Klappcovers Ist noch sehr gut erhalten. (Siehe Fotos)
TONTON MACOUTE: British progressive rock band from Berkshire County. They formrd from the band "Windmill" after their singer and guitarist Dick Scott was killed in a car accident. The music of Tonton Macoute is heavily influenced by jazz, their sound can also be referred to as Progressive Jazz Rock. However, because their music has also psychedelic influences, they remind partly on the Canterbury scene with band like Caravan, the early Soft Mashine etc. This album on RCA Neon was the only release of the band.
"Very Good Plus" Actually,the record could pass almost as near mint. However, because some minor defects are present, I have as a precaution declared the LP as VG +. The album has fine surface “hairlines”, caused probably mostly by the in- and outsliding from the inner sleeve. Some light surface scratches are also available. But they were caused from a light tone arm, so they have very little influence on the sound quality. Only very few scattered mild clicks are heard. Faint crackle in the lead-in groove, between some tracks and on some quieter parts are probably due to the pressing. Otherwise no audible coarse scratches are present. The LP was tested with headphones, listening through loudspeakers, the quiet noise is much lesser audible. The labels are very well preserved.
The gatefold cover is fairly well preserved. Only at the edges the lamination provide at some places, easy sighns of wear. Because that, the spine of the covers is also affected, but the caption is still legible. The lower right corner is easily triggered, but there are no coarser bent corners or about cracks are present. The inside of the foldout cover is very well preserved. (See photos)
