Description

Tony Kinsey Joe Harriott Jazz At Flamingo RARE UK DECCA

The Tony Kinsey Quintet Play A "Jazz At The Flamingo" Session

Scarce 1957 UK Decca mono LP, LK 4207, this one turns up very infrequently.

LP is actually in very clean condition. Spider traces around the spindle areas indicate plays, but not excessively so. There are a handful of small and light superficial hairlines on the vinyl surfaces, but no deep scratches or gouges. LP has obviously been pretty well looked after. Playback is very clean, although some sporadic and very low level crackle is noticeable from time to time. This is never at a level loud enough to distract from listening pleasure. The recorded soud is still crisp and bright, as only Decca know how, this is a great early recording. LP was slightly dusty when I acquired it, and I'm sure a professional clean up would enhance the sonic qualities even further. Labels are clean and undamaged.

Sleeve is mostly clean and complete. It is an early "flimsy", but has not suffered any major tears as so many do. The appearance of the front is still very clean and acceptable. There are no creases and laminate is still intact. There is some very light chipping at the extremeties and tips, but no major fraying damage. Small and neat half inch closed tear along line of bottom right of sleeve at record insertion side. Similar closed tear at top right, this has been repaired with sellotape and is not overly obtrusive. Some light feathering and laminate lift at record insertion part of sleeve, none of this presents any serious cosmetic problems. Back of sleeve is also in mostly very clean and undamaged condition. Backflaps are all present. However, sellotape has been applied to the top, bottom and left hand sides. This seems to have been done to secure these areas, rather than repair damage. There is no damage beneath the sellotape. The sellotape has yellowed with age, however, and this does detract somewhat from the appearance of the rear of the sleeve. Inner sleeve is, I believe, the original.
