Tracy Chapman is the debut album by American singer-songwriter Tracy Chapman, released on April 5, 1988, by Elektra Records.  The album gained critical acclaim from a wide majority of music critics, praising the simplicity, Chapman's vocal ability and her political and social lyrical content. It received commercial success in most of the countries where it was released, making it to the top of the charts in many countries, including Austria, Canada, New Zealand, Switzerland, Denmark, and the United Kingdom. It peaked at No. 1 on the US Billboard 200 and was certified six-times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), with sales exceeding over six million copies in the United States alone.

The vinyl shows some rubbings that do not affect playback.  Vinyl Condition: VG.

The original cover has a small cut on the top edge near the right side (see photos), and the lightest ring wear may be spotted along the bottom edge from certain angles.  Cover Condition: VG.

The original inner sleeve, which has lyrics on one side and a picture of Tracy smiling on the other side, has a couple of creases across one top corner, but no other problems such as splits, stains, or writing.  Inner Sleeve Condition:  VG.

Notes

Elektra black and red labels with silver print. Issued with lyric inner sleeve.

"SLM △" in the runout etching indicates that the lacquer disc was processed at, and the metal parts used to manufacture the record were made at Sheffield Lab Matrix.
