Tubby Hayes and the All-Stars 1964 UK LP Fontana mono TL 5195 **RETURN VISIT!** featuring Roland Kirk amonst others.
Great solid carded sleeve with a laminated front which extends back over the spine and flipbacks thus protecting same. It's in nice shape with no rips, tears or writing. These plain backs typically acquire grubbiness over the years but this is pretty decent as shown bar a few stains at the bottom. Other minor blemishes include light laminate creasing and mild corner rubs.
Overall I rate it 8 /10 for condition.
The flat and shiny vinyl reads 143g on my scale so is of a nice medium weight. Both the Fontana silver & black labels are clean and show evidence of a handful of plays only at the tight spindle hole.
The playing surfaces look nice yet with a some light hairline traces and scuffs so visually I rate the record 8 /10.
For the original poly-lined inner sleeve, it has a taped repair side split, some creasing and a few age spots but otherwise good.
So, next I'm play testing the record on my Linn / Naim hifi system and it plays well. I don't hear too much wrong with it...maybe some light ticks including on the dead bands between tracks but otherwise it sounds good. As such I rate the record 8.75 /10 with regard to sound quality.
