Description
Here we have a special Turkish record for you. Metropolitan # 2004. Victoria Hazan was born near Izmir in 1896, and died in New York in 1995. She came to the US in 1919 and was very involved with the small, but active, Ladino speaking Sephardic Jewish Community. She entertained for friends and fans at synagogues and Armenian and Greek nightclubs. Her friends and relatives insisted that record her music, so reluctantly she made her way to the Metropolitan Record Company in 1941 and recorded songs in Ladino (Judeo-Spanish), Greek and Turkish. This particular record features a duet by the famous Armenian American singer and Oud Player Marco Melkon. Nick Doneff played the Keman (Turkish Violin). "Degirmenichi and Bahche Duvarin Achdi, are both great songs. I played both sides on my Rockola 1428. They play fine and sound great. this record is in very good condition and nice and shiny. There are a few scrapes and minor scratches that do not affect play. There is no graying in the grooves. Side B has a number handwritten on the label. See the photo.
If you like Turkish music, then this is the record to have. I am fortunate to have a duplicate in my collection. This record will be shipped in a special Re-useable cardboard box. Accordingly the shipping cost is $9.75. Thank you.
