Twisted Nerve / Les Bicyclettes 1969 UK POLYDOR LP
Twisted Nerve (Bernard Herrmann) / Les Bicyclettes De Belsize (Les Reed and Barry Mason).
Shared soundtrack LP. The "whistling" Twisted Nerve theme which opens the LP was lifted by Quentin Tarantino on Kill Bill, and the Bicyclettes side features a number by the pre-Deep Purple outfit, Episode Six.1969 UK pressed Polydor Records stereo LP, 583728. Earliest issue red textured paper labels with black and white print.
Vinyl in excellent condition. Just a very few spider trace marks visible at centre spindle areas of the B side, very little detectable at all on the A side. Surfaces have a rich and bright gloss and are free of any marks save for two or three of the lightest of superficial hairline scuffs. The LP has to be studied very closely for these to become apparent. Generally appears little and carefully played.
Playack is clean and bright throughout, and without background noise. The opening of side one displays just two or three isolated light static type ticks, and these may well be due to dust in the grooves, as I have not attempted to clean the LP in any way (see notes below*).
Labels are clean and undefaced.
Sleeve in generally good order. No pen, sticker or other marks. Seams and tips are not frayed or worn. A little light overall creasing, with some slightly more pronounced diagonal corner creasing to left and right top corners of Twisted Nerve side/bottom of Bicyclettes side. (The two sides have flipped pictures, so bottom of one is top of the other). The laminate has suffered some air pockets in these areas, although laminate is not torn or missing anywhere. Else a few pinch lines emanating from spine areas and a few half-moons in the laminate. All in all sleeve is fairly presentable however, and without any major faults.
Inner sleeve is original poly-lined plain white die-cut . This has minor creasing and some age darkening but no tears or splits.
* A Note On Grading:Note that audio grading is subjective and based on sensitivity of equipment used for playback. In this instance playback has been tested on a vintage Technics Quartz Direct Drive SL1700 MKII turntable with Shure cartridge, Technics SU-C 03 amp and Technics SB-F2 Linear Phase speakers.
Also note that I generally do not clean vinyl unless so noted. Most vinyl will show improved playback quality with your preferred cleaning method, but I leave this to the prospective buyer, as controversy still surrounds the ideal method of cleaning vinyl. Instances of crackle near the beginning of sides can often be improved with cleaning, as these areas of the vinyl surfaces are the most prone to debris from handling.
