Description
From a gig in Lincolnshire 1970's TWO FRAMED PICS - AUTOGRAPHED An autographed solo picture of Humphrey plus a fully signed Band Photo with Band members which include Bruce Turner, John Barnes, Roy Williams, Dave Green & Mike Paxton - and of course Humph! I would think these two pictures should stay as a pair from same Concert. *BUT WILL CONSIDER SELLING ONE* (11" x 9 " wooden frames) 1960's era I believe.
HUMPHREY LYTTELTON "HUMPH" Born: May 23, 1921 in Windsor, Berkshire, England, United Kingdom (Died: April 25, 2008)
When the family attended the Eton and Harrow cricket match at Lords in 1936, the 15-year-old Humphrey and his mother slipped away from the game to the Charing Cross Road and bought the boy his first trumpet. His interest in Jazz had begun. Humphrey Lyttelton (1921-2008) played both trumpet and clarinet - an unusual combination - in an 8-piece jazz band which toured Britain and appeared in TV specials for decades. For 40 years (1967-2007) he hosted The Best of Jazz, playing records of his own selection on BBC-2.
It was in 1972 that, against his better judgement, he took on the chairmanship of Radio Four's I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue.
A great guy with talent a for words - and of course music!
