Description
Tyrannosaurus Rex Prophets Seers & Sages The Angels of the Ages lp on 1968 Uk Regal Zonophone with textured sleeve and Original insert. This is the one with Bolan and Peregrin Took, mainly guitar and bongos (plus studio trickery such as tapes played backwards) accompanying the profound vocals of Bolan, an album rated by AMG who said: it delivered some of Marc Bolan's most resonant songs. The nostalgia-flavored "Stacey Grove" and the contrarily high-energy "Conesuela" were as peerless as any of Bolan's more feted compositions. Equally intriguing is the confidence which exudes from "Scenescof Dynasty," a successor of sorts to the last album's "Scenescof," but presented with just percussion and some strange vocal noises to accompany Bolan's singing - at a time when "singing" was maybe not the term a lot of listeners would employ for his vocals. The excited "one-two-three-four" count-in only adds to the dislocation, of course.
Finally, the owlishly contagious "Salamanda Palaganda" offers a first-hand peek into the very mechanics of Bolan's songwriting. Other composers, stuck for a rhyme, either reach for the thesaurus or abandon the lyric altogether. Bolan simply made one up, and in the process created a whole new language - half nonsense, half mystery, but wholly intoxicating. Just like the rest of the album, in fact.

Grading is very careful as this is a rare and valuable lp, so here it is: Sleeve is Mint minus, with no splits or writing or hard bends, just seam rubs. Record visually is Near Mint one side and mint minus the other, with one non sounding stylus mark to end of side, no pen or dirt to labels. Record plays Near Mint, I played it several times listening out for the mark, it did not sound on my Rega Planar through quad, a high end stereo system. The original lyric insert is is excellent minus, with several creases but no rips or writing or dirt, apart from water staining. Original inner sleeve. I will be listing many British R & B, Rock, Invasion, Pop and Psych items of every description this week, in a Killer rock list. One of many nice 60'-90's British Rock & Pop items in my current list, priced to sell.
