The Ultra Rare BEATLES USA WHITE ALBUM SWBO-101 COMPRESSED VERSION From 1968 - This Very Rare album was never supposed to be produced by Capitol Records and especially not Released to the Public !!!
APP 101.SR1(c)X Apple SWBO-101
Because this rarity was one of the very first White Albums pressed, both album labels contain all 7 Song Title Errors!
This is a previously unknown Jacksonville Factory Pressing with BOTH RECORDS PRESSED from two of the original 33 sets of Stampers: Disk 1 is B10 stamper b/w A13 stamper. Disk 2 is B10 stamper b/w A11 stamper; All previous Compressed Versions found and documented have been from the Scranton Factory!!! Don't Miss Out On This Ultra Rarity!!! This is only the third complete Jacksonville Compressed Album known.
Offered is the ultra rare Compressed USA First Edition Version of The Beatles White Album on Apple Records SWBO-101!! This LP was never supposed to be released to the public, or anyone!!! George Harrison asked Capitol Records in late 1968 to destroy all the masters that were created to date! This is one of very few copies that was pressed by Capitol Records Jacksonville IL Factory in 1968!!! This record is a First Issue White Album that's record labels contain all 7 Song Title printing errors! The jacket has "The Beatles" in raised letters with serial number ?0647475 stamped on the front cover. This LP jacket has a Gugler Litho manufactured cover!
The album jacket itself is in Very Good to VG+ condition with normal wear you'd expect from a VG to VG+ album cover. The front cover is clean with pretty good shine still but has some ring wear on the front and back! The bottom seams have light wear with both having a 1/2" split inward from the mouth; the top seams have heavier wear but no splits. The spine is complete with all printing. The inside gatefold is in Excellent condition. The labels are all in Excellent condition. The album includes the original poster in solid VG condition with no tears and is printed (C) Apple Records thus it's a first issue poster. The 4 photographs of the Beatles are not present but can easily be found elsewhere.
The value here is in the vinyl records... The record labels contain all 7 different first issue song title label errors and both records still have some factory gloss! For whatever reason, Disk 1 has been played much more than Disk 2 in this album set. Disk 1 Grades Good+ and has VG+ Labels. Disk 2 grades Very Good with Excellent Labels. Disk 1 Side 1 was created from the B10 Jacksonville Stamper and is in Good+ condition with many scratches but none are deep and plays through fine with some background noise mainly noticeable between tracks. Disk 1 Side 2 was created from the A13 Jacksonville Stamper and grades Good+ condition - it looks the same as Side 1.
Disk 2 Side 3 was created from the B10 Jacksonville Stamper and is in Very Good condition. Disk 2 Side 4 was created from the A11 Jacksonville Stamper and is in Very Good condition. We like to be conservative on our grading so there won't be any surprises when our customers receive their items. Please Note: we visually grade our records however we did play this LP all the way through and there were no skips. The master numbers on this LP are stamped in the deadwax on each side as follows:
Side 1: SWBO-X1-101-B10 (small2) #2 - This record has an 'O' in the deadwax signifying Jacksonville Factory
Side 2: SWBO-X2-101-A13 #1 - This record has an 'O' in the deadwax signifying Jacksonville Factory
Side 3: SWBO-X3-101-B10 (small2) - This record has a 'O' in the deadwax signifying Jacksonville Factory
Side 4: SWBO-X4-101-A13 #3 - This record has a 'O' in the deadwax signifying Jacksonville Factory.
Each of the sides are shown in our pictures. Again, this is a Jacksonville IL issued LP and only the First Issue LPs contains the Compressed Versions of the songs-This Is Only The Third Copy of a Jacksonville Compressed Pressing Version we have ever heard of - This is a Great Opportunity to Add a Terrific USA 1968 WHITE ALBUM Rarity to your Beatles collection!!
We have found on the web plus Bruce Spizer's books have several paragraphs on this exact subject. After some reading on the web we found a lot of information pointing out several noticeable differences: on Why Don't We Do It In The Road? 'Bruce Spizer had 3 paragraphs about this special compressed version of The White Album on his follow up to "The Beatles on Apple Records" book which he placed as an addendum in his "The Beatles Swan Song" book. He stated that George did indeed supervise the re-mastering and it took place at Sound Recorders Studio around the corner from the Capitol Tower and that Capitol scrapped the original 33 sets of laquers in October 1968. But for some reason the Scranton factory released some of these initial 33 laquers!!! The new lacquers were recut with E/Q settings with Stereo Limiter Equipment now set to zero. He stated the differences were evident with a close listen at the low & high parts of songs are less dynamic on these early versions. He showed several digital wave comparison charts of one particular song, Why Don't We Do It In The Road? and that clearly showed differences in the song! He stated there is visible evidence of this compression in all the songs on the album! Buy his books and you can educate yourself on this Very Special Beatles Album.
