Please, allow me to introduce myself : I’ve not only been a dedicated follower of collecting but a co-owner of second hand record shops, an A&R executive at record companies, a chief editor in music magazines, a radio dj, etc for the last 35 years in Greece! So, a hell of a lot of rare and collectable items such as out-of-print original records, first pressings, special editions, promo samples, white labels, test pressings, magazines, posters, catalogues, memorabilia and other fetish objects of desire in 5, 7, 10 and 12 inches not only from Greece but from all over the world are going to be exhibited through these pages … Turn on and stay tuned!

So, up for auction is one out of the no more than 5 [five!!!] ever produced and impossible to find very rare original WHITE LABEL TEST PRESSING PROMOTIONAL copies of the U2’s The Joshua Tree album that were pressed in 1987 in Greece by C.G.C.G. Ltd. - the local pressing plant of EMI GREECE S.A. back in those days - with test pressing / SAMPLE NOT FOR SALE black and white labels in order to test the release of this notorious album by Virgin Records Greece - the local distributor of Island back in those days - with a, following the pattern of Virgin Records Greece, Cat No VG 71446 and Matrix Nos VG 71446 A [A side] and VG 71446 B [B side, both machine - stamped]! Housed in a unique Greek gatefold sleeve with a Greece flag printed on the front cover in the bottom left hand corner stating “RECORD MADE IN GREECE” in Greek and English lettering, it was given away as a promo copy to a local radio personality in a late state of the production! That’s why the 4-page picture / lyrics insert, which was thrown into the stock copies, it’s missing from this very copy!

 [Important Notice : There are also two more cover variations printed for Virgin Records Greece : one with a quote from Time magazine written in Greek language in gold in the bottom left hand corner plus another one with NO Greek lettering at all on the sleeve! ]

As, to my knowledge, only one [vinyl: VG+ / cover: VG+] of these 5 [five] copies has been sold on eBay for $454.00 USD three and a half years ago, this is the, once in a lifetime, chance for every U2 completist! So, do not miss …

Grading:I use the GOLDMINE standards for grading STRICTLY & CONSERVATIVELY  the condition of the items listed. The grading is mostly visual, though I d? “spot check” each of the songs.

I personally write all of my own descriptions, take all of my own photos, and package all items for mailing myself. Items pictured in any of my listings are always the actual items that buyers will receive from me. Strict packing policies applied : each order is carefully packaged by removing the lp from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of plastic cover sleeves over each lp and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.
