Description

U2 "4 U2 Play" is the "Exclusive to Ireland" limited edition collection of the group's first 4 singles. Originally released as a collection in the early 1980's, the package was only ever available in the UK, or by import to Australia. The package is widely recognised as a major U2 collectible and is rare. I purchased the collection new from a record store in England in 1985, and the condition and record's details are described below:

1. U-2 "Three" (CBS 7951 - 1979) mfd in Ireland. Side A 'Out Of Control' Side B 1. 'Stories For Boys' 2. 'Boy/Girl'

These recordings are the original first studio recordings of U2 and are different to the first album versions of the songs. They are rawer, and pack more punch. The vinyl is in excellent playing condition, with no signs of wear - not even spindle marks. The vinyl has always had a slight warp which makes it look a bit wobbly when spinning on the turntable, but it does NOT skip or jump and plays perfectly. The cardboard picture sleeve shows some slight signs of ageing, but is in very good condition.

2. "11 O'Clock Tick Tock" (CBS 8687 - 1980) mfd in Ireland. Side A '11 O'Clock Tick Tock' Side B ' Touch'

The vinyl is in excellent playing condition, with no signs of wear - not even spindle marks. The cardboard picture sleeve  is in excellent condition, with the front cover slightly lighter than the back cover due to some very slight loss of colour over the years.

3 "A Day Without Me" (CBS 8904 - 1980) mfd in Ireland Side A 'A Day Without Me' Side B 'Things To Make And Do'

The vinyl is in excellent playing condition, with no signs of wear - not even spindle marks. The cardboard picture sleeve shows some slight signs of ageing, but is in very good condition. Also, there is a manufacturing fault where the black border of the picture on the front sleeve "smudged" when produced and gives the effect of a "fire" near the beginning of the title. The photo will indicate the smudge I refer to.

4. "I Will Follow" (CBS 9065 - 1980) mfd in Ireland Side A  'Will Follow' Side B 'Boy/Girl (Live')

The vinyl is in excellent playing condition, with no signs of wear - not even spindle marks. The cardboard picture sleeve shows some slight signs of ageing, but is in very good condition.

The whole package comes housed in a sturdy plastic sleeve to display on a wall. The plastic display shows signs of its 25 year+ age, but is in reasonable condition. It is 38cm wide and 50 cm high, and can be folded when records removed. I will ensure the complete collection is packaged carefully when shipped.
