UFO : Obsession A1/B2 1st Press

For this auction I am selling a number of progressive/heavy rock records that have been so well preserved down the years and many of them hardly played.  I am moving house soon so want to 'shift' a lot of my stock quickly so unfortunately do not have the time to describe each track in detail as I generally do.  However, I will still play every track in full so as to provide a 'complete' grading.

This first pressing plays with superb audio and hardly any 'background'.  There is just one very light click on S2 but the clarity throughout is so impressive and there is barely any static.  A fantastic listen!  The cover is the most stunning example I have ever seen and has no wear at all plus the inner sleeve is also in great condition.

Visual grading

The vinyl is pristine and still has an immaculate jet-black glossy sheen with no marks or scratches.  I can only detect a couple of faint hairlines on S1 but based on the audio and that there are only a couple of spindle traces on S1 this record has clearly hardly ever been played.

Play Grading

'Only You Can Rock Me' starts things off with 'high end' quality.  The only 'background' is 3/4 seconds of very light static in the quieter mid section.  'Pack It Up (And Go)' sounds like it was pressed only yesterday not nearly 44 years ago!  'Arbory Hill' plays with stunning clarity and 'Ain't No Baby' also plays with flawless audio.  'Lookin' Out For No 1' has a couple of very light ticks on first verse and then plays with genuine quality for the remainder.  The quieter sections play with great clarity, just one light tick the final one, but overall the playback is so strong and clear.  Perhaps just a minor amount of inner groove distortion but this is very minimal.  

'Hot 'N' Ready' plays without fault from start to finish and 'Cherry' is just as impressive with only a couple of minor static ticks on the intro - the quieter sections play with sublime clarity and barely any static.  'You Don't Fool Me' again plays with stunning precision and the rest of the side plays with great quality also.  A couple of light ticks on the 'Born To Lose' intro, minimal light static in the next quieter section and one very light click towards the end but nothing really intrusive.  Another amazing album!

The Cover & Inner Sleeve

The cover is in fantastic condition and like new is no exaggeration.  Beautifully preserved there is no edge, spine or corner wear and the front and back are unmarked.  Stunning!  The poly-lined 'Plastic Bags...' inner is also in great shape with no side splits or marking and barely any creasing.  Just a price sticker on there for some reason.

This record has been professionally cleaned on a Pro-Ject VC-S machine
