UHD&C Cat. No. 1252 | United Hebrew Disc and Cylinder Record Co.
Yiddish Comic Song titled "Oi Raichele", recorded around 1906. Record is labeled "Hebrew Tenor". Singer is accompanied by small band. I was unable to identify the artist. (If you have access to Spottswood's Ethnic Music books, please enlighten me!)
As you probably know, these UHD&C records are exceedingly rare and also of historical importance. The United Hebrew Disc & Cylinder Record Co. was the first Jewish owned and exclusively Jewish record label, only in existence for a couple of years: from around 1904-1906.
Record has scuffs and light scratches but plays without skips or repeat grooves (using a 3.5 mil stylus). Has some surface noise and distortion of loud spikes but still enjoyable listening. I don't feel qualified to grade a 116 year old record.
No reserve and low starting bid! Record will be packed and shipped appropriately.
