Originally released in 1971 by Island Records in the UK and on A & M Records in North America, 'Tea For The Tillerman' catapulted Cat Stevens into international superstardom. Every song is beautifully sung, arranged, recorded and brilliantly produced by Paul Samwell-Smith. Even the cover painting (which Stevens created himself) is perfectly suited to the essence of the album and reflects the innocence of the songs in a way.
In March of 1982, Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab obtained the first generation stereo master tape and released a special UHQR ( Ultra High Quality Record ) pressing of 'Tea For The Tillerman' ( MFQR 1-035 ). It is a virtual mirror-image of the master tape....clear, balanced; all the instruments perfectly defined and revealing an enormous soundstage...... truly an unforgettable audiophile experience.
Condition of UHQR Box: Excellent(-).....only the top lid shows some wear to the front, corners, and spine....there are no tears or any unsightly stains or marks. The bottom of the lid is near-perfect.
Condition of Protective Foam (x2), Technical Spec Manual, Hand-Numbered Certificate: Near Mint(-) ....some age discoloration and sunning.
Condition of Hand-Numbered Sleeve: Excellent(-).....seam split to top & bottom edge ( common with these releases due to tight packaging)
Condition of UHQR Record: Near Mint ~ Mint.....beautiful gloss to both sides....labels are near-perfect....literally played twice from new. The audio is simply sensational.
