Summary:

The most OBSCURE Original UK Lennon Album, ‘UNFINISHED MUSIC NO. 1 TWO VIRGINS’ was John’s 1st UK Solo Album release in 1968. Not surprisingly, it caused much of a stir at the time due to the nude content of the album cover and the experimental nature of the music content. A major obstacle was the record company, who refused to release it unless the pictures were changed. Eventually the album was distributed by Track Records in the UK - with one condition - that it was wrapped in a brown paper bag, to cover the offending nude scenes, but even with approval, the record company printers would not print it. In addition many record shops refused to stock the album, and it therefore only sold around 5,000 copies, not even entering the charts. Even the music press opposed it and no editor would accept any of the adverts. It was the first Solo Beatles album to be deleted by EMI.

The Naked Photographs were taken in early October 1968 in the basement of Ringo Starr’s property in Montague Square London, where John set up a camera using a delayed shutter release, taking the Photographs himself.

Grading

Vinyl

Upon first inspection the vinyl is stunning with a strong gloss and smooth, clean playing surface with a rich, deep black shine. On side two there is one visible surface mark when reflecting in light. It's very light and has no effect to the audio whatsoever.

The LP plays from start to finish without a single issue. No surface noise at all, no hiss no crackle no clicking or popping. Even on the run-in and between tracks it's beautifully quiet. Totally uninterrupted audio as it was intended to sound. Looks like it's had maybe one listen if that, barely any signs of use. Under very bright light there are a few very small, faint and wispy shuffle/storage marks. Looks like sleeve removal or just storage wear, absolutely nothing to be concerned with and as mentioned earlier, there is no effect to play at all.

Seamless audio reproduction throughout the entire LP, an absolutely stunning vinyl.

Sleeve - NM

The sleeve is also in stunning NM condition. Considering how little this LP sold at the time and it's age, the sleeve has survived in just superb condition. Beautiful white laminated sleeve front and back with crisp straight edges and pointy corners. Even still retains it's factory pleated spine ends/corners. Spine is uncrushed with no splits or cracking. Just a small patch of laminate has separated from sleeve, not cracked or split but if you view the pics you can see it top left hand side on the front cover, very minor and nothing to worry about. The sleeve has that factory fresh feel and look to it,

everything just looks right about it.

You really would be hard pressed to find a better copy than this one.
