RARE British limited edition of 1969 non-Lp tracks plus master tape issue of their legendary 1970 first LP, complete with a terrific unique cover and in depth liner notes overviewing this strange but highly talented band named "EGG"

Formed from the ashes of British psych legends ARZACHEL when guitarist Steve Hillage left the band -- then Arzachel keyboard wizard Dave Stewart & bassist Mont Campbell had an idea or more to form an energetic adventurous keyboard trio, and completed their trio with drummer supreme (post Groundhogs) Clive Brooks, cleverly calling themselves "EGG" ...Even though EGG were a shortlived band, they managed two prized albums ... Fast forward to England some 15 years later to the UK label See For Miles  whom issued, in small quantity, the album we offer ... the title track "SEVEN IS A JOLLY GOOD TIME" was the very rare 7-inch only (pre-first album) -- and both A & B sides are included....interest in their back catalog was largely archaeological when this excellent album first appeared. One listen,  swiftly sent an entire generation scurrying for the handful of highly priced original albums that rattled around the collectors' market, as Egg were revealed to be among the most inventive progressive rock acts of the entire late-'60s and early-'70s era. Titled for the band's one and only single, which itself was named for the time signature in which the song was played, Seven Is a Jolly Good Time is, in fact, basically the master tapes second press of the band's 1970 self-titled debut album, appended by both the title track and its non-album B-side "You Are All Princess." Its appearance was a boon for anybody anxious to find out more about this most intriguing chapter in the tale of Canterbury Rock. Still an enjoyable listen today, the album is very hard to find and seldom seen.
