I have or had in my collection most singles and EPs by John's Children and their individual members, including UK Picture sleeves Desdemona and The Love I Thought I'd Found. I have all singles on Track including one of the actual authentic pressings of Midsummer Night's Scene with intact center which I have played once in over 30 years. I have most of the releases on Columbia both stock and promo issues. I have the Spanish EP with PS. I also have many test pressings including Desdemona, Come and Play with both written and printed labels, as well as many acetates. Couple paper sleeve scuffs. Matrices A SIDE:604003 A 2 B SIDE:604003 B//1. On the A SIDE between the A & 2 is an upside down triangle[delta].Vinyl VG+ or better. I paid over $500 for it several years ago, but I am starting with considerably lower opening bid. Good luck!
"Desdemona" is a song by the British cult band John's Children. It was released in 1967 and failed to chart in Britain, possibly due to the fact it was banned by the BBC for a "controversial" lyric (lift up your skirt and fly).However, the song was a minor hit in Europe.
The song was composed by Marc Bolan, at the time a member of John's Children, and is considered to be one of the greatest songs the group recorded, or indeed, one of the greatest early (ie. pre Tyrannosaurus Rex/T. Rex) Bolan songs.
The song was covered by Radio Stars (featuring former John's Children singer Andy Ellison) (1978), Marsha Hunt (1969) and The Jam were known to have played the song live.
