Description
This is an UNKNOWN garage band doing a cover version of the Beau Brummels 1965 top 10 hit "Just A Little" backed with a song that I'm guessing is titled "You Hurt Me", "Hurtin' Me Bad" or possibly "Don't Hurt Me No More" on a 7" Sanders Recording Studios ACETATE. Both sides feature guitar, bass, drums and organ, adding up to a really great sound!!! I've done quite a bit of web searching trying to determine who this band is, but I couldn't find anything on YouTube, Google or Yahoo. If you possibly have some insight into the name of this band, what the B-side title is or whether these recordings were released or not, I'd appreciate the info, so I can share it in this listing.
Just a note for those unfamiliar with metal acetates - these records are extra heavy from the center of the record being made of metal. These records are the first versions ever cut from the master tapes (even before test pressings, promo copies or commercially released copies, if they were ever made) for the purpose of feedback on the mix by those involved in the recording process. These discs were expensive to make, so very few, if no more than a handful were usually made and as you can imagine, these discs are quite RARE. It's possible that the recordings on this acetate were never officially released and were just copies made for the members of the band, therefore this acetate is SUPER RARE and highly sought after!!!
The vinyl on this acetate is in good - very good condition with a few whispy sleeve marks, light scratches, and a handful of clicks/pops that DO NOT cause any skips or stuck grooves. There's NO chips, flakes or white haziness to the acetate surface, but I found that there's a 1/4" thin chip showing the metal underneath at the very outer edge of the disc, which as you can see in the last two photos below, it is nowhere near the grooves or even the run-in groove. This acetate appears to have been recorded/cut at a lower level, and it appears to have been played a little more than acetates usually are, so there's a bit more background noise. I believe though, if you're computer savy and have the right audio editing software, these songs could be cleaned up. I'm sure you'll still enjoy both songs, as they're well performed and the vocalist adds a lot of emotion to the mix. You may not be able to clearly see in the photos below, but the A-side label has nearly come detached and has three 1/2" - 1" tears from the center to the outer edge of the Sanders Recording Studios label, and only one quarter of the blank B-side label remains, both which are exactly how I found this acetate. You can hear sound samples of segments of each side/song below, which is from the actual record in this auction. Please take a look at the photos below of each side of the label to view the label condition. This is a really RARE & COOL Garage Rock collectible, make sure you bid today!!!
