MARILYN MONROE and JANE RUSSELL
"GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES"
LOT OF 4 REHEARSAL DISCS

This is a set of four 12-inch Soundcraft 78-rpm discs of music from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, which had been in the hands of a recently deceased Hollywood studio employee since the 1950s. They are part of his estate.

These discs show some wear, including places on the edge where metal is showing through the vinyl, but this does not effect the playing surfaces. There is also some staining. The sound quality ranges from fair to good, with some pops and static.

Disc 1: Jane Russell and Voices sing "Ain't There Anyone Here For Love." Performance time is 4:54. Takes up one whole side, other side is blank.
Disc 2: Production routine of "Bye, Bye Baby." Performance time is 5:35. Takes up one side of the disc; other side is blank.
Disc 3: Jane Russell & Marilyn Monroe sing "When Love Goes Wrong." Performance time is 4:10. Takes up one whole side, other side is blank. Sound is somewhat noisy.
Disc 4: Marilyn Monroe sings two versions of "Down Boy," one in the key of A (on one side of the disc) and one in Bb (on the other side). Performance time on each side is just under a minute. She's accompanied by a piano on each take. Sound quality is pretty good. This song wasn't used in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes; instead, it was taken by Betty Grable, who sang it in Three For the Show. I don't know if a recording of Marilyn singing this song was ever released.
