Description

Here’s a very rare item. This is a studio acetate by a band called the Sullies, which featured a young Steve Perry, later to become the lead singer of Journey. The song on this disc is “The Girl I Left Behind”, and it dates from the mid 1960s. There’s a complete article on the group that can be found here: www.rimpo.com/sullies.html According to the site, while the group did make it into a recording studio several times, they never actually put any records out to the public. Most of the surviving copies of the music reside with the band and…well… on this disc I have. I would describe the song as somewhat similar to the Byrds- jangley guitars, nice harmonies, and an organ in the background. The site notes Perry as being the main songwriter for the group. The acetate is single sided and plays well. I would probably grade it in the VG+ range. I found this disc in a thrift store in Fresno, California. The band was originally from the Handford/Lemoore area, about 45 minutes away from where I live. So if something like this was going to turn up, it makes sense that it would turn up here. Good luck on this extremely rare record! INTERNATIONAL BIDS WELCOME. Drop me a message if ebay doesn’t calculate shipping for you. California residents add 8.225% tax. Happy bidding!!
