This is an incredibly rare 12” vinyl various artists compilation LP. No outer sleeve is known to exist (see the entry on the music cataloguing website ‘DISCOGS’). There is no known label, date produced, nor released, but the style of most tracks is very mid-1980s electronic and synth pop/rock. The country of origin is thought to be UK because of English spellings in the song titles. The artists and titles are listed below, but virtually nothing is known about the artists. In all respects this looks like a test pressing/sampler for new artists that was never formally released, and known copies may have just been given away to a small limited number of DJs?

Because of the rarity of this, the synth pop content is absolutely priceless for collectors of the genre who are completists who want to hear the stuff that didn’t make it to the charts, and who knows how many of these unknown bands contained personnel who made the grade with other successful bands? (Track 3, Side B sounds very much like some of the band Erasure’s output!).

The record’s catalogue number is ‘COMP 1’ as printed on the red labels and the matrices indicate first pressings A1 & B1. The condition of the disc on Side A looks ‘excellent’ with a high sheen gloss finish, whilst Side B shows a long mark which is underneath the lacquer but does not create any noise on playback which is very good. I have marked the general condition down to “very good” because there is a very slight wave in the vinyl, though this doesn’t create any problems. Production wise there is slightly more treble than there perhaps should be, because there is a beat in the rhythms of all tracks that sounds like the clacking of drumsticks to the beat. This can be distinguished from ‘clicks’ caused by scratches (that are largely absent) because there is absolute silence between all tracks. The disc has a plain white paper inner sleeve itself in a good plus condition die cut plain white generic outer card sleeve. There is no known original outer sleeve with titles or credits.
