'ITS THE VINYL COUNTDOWN'

Welcome to 'Its the vinyl countdown' music auctions. Here you will find some of the most incredible rare records and music memorabilia for your collection. We pride ourselves on auctioning only the highest grade records and items, you will not see anything listed here below EX+ condition, unles the item is extremely rare. You will not see worn covers, warped records or scratched records. We simply do not bother with them.

We list in many cases, 'Archived' & 'mint' condition items, we are able to source from private collections all over the UK. So we hope you can be put at ease that what you are bidding on is of the highest quality.

We play through most of the records, unless the item is clearly mint, or sealed..in which case we don't play them, thus maintaining their 'unplayed' status!  Obviously with some of these rare items there will be the odd 'anomoly' along the way , the odd little static pop or lead in 'sizzle' for a split second.. nothing is perfect we find! all systems differ, but we aim to describe these as accurately as possible for you.... PLEASE ENJOY THIS ITEM YOU ARE NOW LOOKING AT..

URIAH HEEP

'LOOK AT YOURSELF'

POSSIBLY THE HARDEST OF ALL HEEP LPs TO FIND IN 'ANY CONDITION'!

1st SLEEVE WITH MIRRORED DIE CUT 'DOUBLE SKIN' COVER, 'PORKY ETCHING'  & FIRST LABELS.

THE VINYL PLAYS FANTASTIC!

Released 1971

Label    BRONZE / ISLAND   ILPS 9169

Matrix        ILPS 9169 A-1U  PORKY  Stamper: 2 GL

                   ILPS 9169 B-1U  PORKY  Stamper: 1 RM

THE VINYL   EX VISUALLY  /  PLAYS EX+

As you can see, this vinyl is the highly prized EARLIEST -1  UK VINYL pressing,  with the 'PORKY ETCHING' on side 1-  Later 70s pressings were Bronze prefixes.

The LP obviously has been played a fair amount of times, but...on listening through we heard nothing but a fantastic rich sound with hardly a hint of any crackle or pop!

This  HEAVYWEIGHT ISLAND pressing is a superb vinyl which has retained its amazing glossy sheen and finish.. We are seing fewer and fewer copies of this LP, on the rare occasion w see one they are always trashed beyond life! and the sleeves are always fit for no one!  ...So saying this-  a copy this good is a real treasure nowadays.

There are a few light whisp lines, and a couple of tiny hairlines on each side.  A couple of scuff / light dull streaks on each side  but this in no way affects play at all -

There were a few little dust specs are on the vinyl when we slid it for checking..and on playing through we heard just some lead in static in the dead grooves & the occasional static pop in a few spots..a professional hoover cleaner could remedy this vinyl even higher ...!

ALL THINGS CONSIDERED - THE WHOLE LP IS A FANTASTIC LISTEN. AND A GEM OF A 'HEEP' LP.

Finding a cleaner copy is very very hard to do, so we strongly recommend this for your collection...

note: recently we saw a Mint copy (and we do mean MINT!)  at one of our 'dealers' and they wanted over £400 for it.. We can get this if anyone is interested? ;0)

THE LABELS   EX+  FLAT MATT LABELS -Original Island prefix labels with very dark brown lettering

THE SLEEVE     EX

Correct  first UK issued earliest 'silver ink' sleeve  -with die cut Mirror insert and tabbed 'double skin' end

Printer credit:  uncredited

1st issued mirror sleeves had a double 'skin' cover hiding the mirror sheet completely.. no printer credits & silver ink finish

2nd pressings had the printer credits added and the mirror was stuck inside the single skin cover.

Mid 70s sleeves had a grey coloured replicated ink and no mirror at all.

Yes..we all know how hard this sleeve is to find in any condition, and whilst this is not MINT..it is a very very nice copy.

This is in SUPER condition, quite amazing how it has survived so clean. MOST COPIES we see are always worn and suffer terrible ring wear.. and scuffing

The edges are all super  with some traces of rub, on all sides and all colours and inks remain in outstanding condition

Some tip rub &  a few spider lines over the edge of the spine & sides

The spine edge is slightly squashed and has some light rub spots

The front die cut is superb, with just one tiny feather spot on the right, the mirror itself is stunning with hardly a trrace of dull rub.

A small white scuff patch on the bottom front, and some light ring press, no ring wear!

The open edge remains in sharp condition with some light feathering.

We cannot add any more than this! all things considered..its a cracking sleeve.

THE INNER SLEEVE   EX

1st isued textured inner..super condition with some 'fraying' on the top edge..some motled discolour spots, and the bottom seam has ben sellotaped for some reason..
