The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks.         

The sleeve/ inners / poster etc are in perfect condition.

EXCELLENT. (EX) 

The record shows only minimal signs of having been played.

There will be no noticeable lessening in sound quality.   

The sleeve will have only very slight wear and /or minor creasing.                                  

VERY GOOD PLUS. (VG+) 

The record shows signs that it has been played with light surface markings that are more of a cosmetic nature.

Most will only be visible under strong light.

There will be no major deterioration in sound quality.

The sleeve may have some edge /corner wear and / or minor creasing.

VERY GOOD. (VG)  

The record shows signs of play with light, but more obvious surface markings.  

Surface noise may be evident in some intro / quieter passages, but will not detract from the overall sound quality.
