ABNER JAY - The Backbone Of America Is A Mule And Cotton ( Brandie SoN 122161 / SoN 122162 mono, USA 1976 )
ABNER JAY was born in the early 1920ies in Georgia / USA and was already playing in his childhood / youth on several shows as "One Man Band". His common instruments were the harmonica, a six string banjo, a drum kit and some bones (mainly from cows and chickens !!). From the late 60ies onwards he recorded several albums - that were mainly released on his own "Brandie" label - (named after his daughter). Musically in the, so called, "real people / outsider folk blues" direction he plays as a "one man band" with his unusual instrumentation his own interpretations of "American" songs - sang with his deep distinctive voice. Here as US original copy in great condition - this album he released with 2 differnet cover designs..... His original records are NOT easy to find - so for the connoisseur of "more adventorous sounds".....
