Description

The Complete Unaccompanied  Bach Cello Suites  played by Nikolas Harnoncourt on this 3LP French Harmonia Mundi box set, with a booklet that is the fair copy autograph manuscript facsimile of the score to these, written out beautifully by Anna Magdalena Bach, the composers beloved wife. Full details of the tracks are to the rear of the box, as there is no further space for another booklet with the score being on art paper, so this is exactly as you bought it all those years ago. Harnoncourt plays a 1744 Castagneri to these. Lively readings with a sweet singing tone, from one of the greatest Bach interpreters of the 20th century.

Incidentally, I remember the one and only time I saw this set before, around 1988, at a dealers house, just as the previous customer placed it on the top of his pile. After he left, I mentioned to the seller that I would have liked that, and he said, so would I son, so would I!. He had meant to keep it for himself, but had accidentally left it amongst stock and felt wrong about pulling from a good customer.

This record set is Near Mint, in a Near Mint box, with a near mint booklet.
