Here's a great private press two-sider that you will be hard-pressed to find any reference to 'Can't Stand Much More/You Ever Need a Hand You Got Mine' by THE NEW TESTAMENT on the red and gold Vemby Sounds Inc. Fun City label, no. 305A/B. Solid, nice playing VG+ copy here. I'm guessing these guys are from New York or environs, as 'Fun City' was the nickname of that town before a drive to re-nickname it 'The big Apple' in the 1970s. Wherever they were from, they were a great band. 'Can't Stand Much More' is compelling circa 1966/67 style northern/garage soul with superb vocals, bongos(!) and a loose, amateur sound. Great. Side two is a soulful, laid-back garage/psych track with overtones of Dylan. One of the finest rarities I've ever found in 20 years of looking for stuff just like this.
