This is an acetate, i've only played it twice but it's obviously been played a few times before I got my hands on it. It's in surprisingly nice condition, WOL. with some crackle a couple of pops but no jumps. Check the soundclips below.
Description
OK here's what I've been told about this record, these four tracks were brought over to England on tapes direct from Clement "Coxsone" Dodd's legendary Studio 1 & cut onto this EMIdisc in Birmingham for one of the local sounds. The band playing are The Gladiators, one of the cuts is a re-voicing of Burning Spear's "Swell Headed" & one's a take on Junior Byles' "Curly Locks". I don't know who the vocalist is? Have a listen and see if you can recognize him. There's also two nice versions, Lee Scratch Perry was known to work on the Gladiators stuff and they are in a similar bare-bones dub style that he was known for rather than the echoplex laden King tubby suff...... But I'm not saying that these are Upsetter dubs cos I dont know....... but they could be ;-)
