This auction is for a numbered (10 of 18), unreleased Clarity Vinyl pressing of Rimsky-Korsakoff's "Scheherazade" with Fritz Reiner conducting the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

The jewel in the Living Stereo crown. This is considered one of the very best LP's for sonics and performance in the famous RCA Living Stereo Classical catalog.  Fritz Reiner is conducting the CSO at Orchestra Hall in Chicago in 1957 with RCA's legendary producer and engineer -  Richard Mohr and Lewis Layton on hand to capture the magic.  Classic Records reissued this title in 1994 using the original three track session masters that were on the machine when the recording was made.   This Clarity Vinyl version was pressed, in very limited quantity,  on Classic's 200g QUIEX Super Vinyl Profile.  Clarity vinyl was originated by Classic Records and involves removing the Carbon Black (with trace magnetic materials) from the PVC vinyl pellets.   The result is more "Clarity" in playback by removing the electrical distortion in the cartridge caused by random magnetized particles in carbon black records. You can hear more of the important low level details in recordings pressed on Clarity vinyl.  This title was pressed before Classic was sold in 2009 and hence never officially released on Clarity vinyl and is very limited and collectible.
