Description
Silver Top ST-1141. The Upfronts/Most Of The Pretty young Girls (2:48) / Ray Frazier/Walking With My Baby (2:27). The Upfronts released this and other 45's on Lummie Fowler's Lummtone label (#114, 1964) located in Los Angeles. They began life as The Cubans on the Flash label and later became Little Caesar & The Romans on Del-Fi, with various personnel changes. Ray Frazier's side came out on Baronet (#8, 1962), another small Los Angeles label. He also recorded for other LA labels as Ray Frazier and The Sharps. How these two labels merged for this release on the Silver Top label, I don't know. Not much information on Silver Top other than they released two additional 45's. The original Lummtone and Baronet 45's are hard to come by, so comparing matrix markings is difficult. Relic records put out a Lummtone compilation and you can google it for the informative back cover notes. There is an alternate take of "Most Of The Pretty Young Girls", and a stereo version floating around. Matrix numbers on this record are etched:
A-side: AX 0232-ST-1141 L-15119 B-side: BX 0 233-ST-1141 L-15119-X
Slight smudge beginning of B-side vinyl, does not affect play. Both sides look and play extremely minty. Generic sleeve. See scans for more detail.
