Cover: Unlaminated, fragile gatefold cover. There is some light edge-wear, a little bit of corner-wear and the merest hint of ringwear on the front. There is also a little bit of rubbing on the back, but most importantly, no seam splits. There are two small sticker-removal tears on the front bottom right-hand corner (above the word ‘Heep’), but this has been repaired very well and is barely noticeable (see photo). The spine shows very little signs of wear with all text clear and easy to read. A nice sleeve for its age; grades around about VG+/EX- due to the tiny repair-work.
Inner Sleeve: Original poly-lined Vertigo swirl sleeve with the correct ‘0171’ printing code, indicating that it was printed in January 1971. There is a little bit of yellowing and browning, predominately near the top opening edge and the bottom corners where the glue has stained through with age. All seams are intact.
Labels: Original Vertigo swirl labels with just a couple of light spindle trails on both sides.
Vinyl: Original heavyweight (140 grams) vinyl pressing. Side B looks near mint, with only the lightest of hairlines and sleeve removal marks that are only visible under a halogen light and which do not affect playback. Side A has a light hairline mark which runs from the outer edge of the record to the run-out groove. This mark only sounds at one point: the beginning of the second track (‘The Park’), causing a light tick for the first minute of the song. Aside from this minor flaw, the rest of the record plays EX+ to near-mint, with only the odd bit of crackle. Overall, playback is strong and distortion-free, with all frequencies clear and sharp.
Additional Info: All of the vinyl that I am selling is from my personal collection, and has been cleaned on a VPI HW 16.5 Record Cleaning Machine. After cleaning, I keep all of my records in ‘Mobile Fidelity’ rice paper inner sleeves and store them with the records outside of the covers.
