SOVIET ARMY CHORUS: Celebration—30th Anniversary of the End of World War II. Used vintage LP in Near Mint/Very Good+ condition. Melodiya-Columbia Recs. LP Catalog # M 33592; 1975

Condition: Vinyl has no significant flaws. Jacket has minor wrinkles at two corners, partial ring impression on front, handwritten in ink Sam Goody price code at lower right corner on back. Inner sleeve with soft poly liner included.

Behind the Music: Talk about a collector’s item! Come on!! This album should be worth far more than what I am asking. Behold the battle-worn flag of the USSR on front and back and the painting of Red Army troops storming up the steps of the famous Brandenburg Gate in Berlin to tear down the Nazi flag that had flown there for so many years. See, as Americans, we’ve always been taught to fear and hate Russians. Guess who did the bulk of the suffering and dying required to put an end to the Nazi madness Hitler and company brought upon the peoples of Germany and the territories they’d occupied? The Russians take World War II—the “Great Motherland Liberation War”—very, very seriously. I know. I have visited the museum in Moscow devoted to remembrance of those terrible events. I saw wall after wall, of towering height, with the names of the dead chiseled in stone. The Russians also take culture very seriously. Melodiya was the official audio recording operation of the USSR. Its products were made available in this country by Columbia (this item) and Angel (via EMI in Europe) Records. These stirring performances, sung in Russian, feature the Soviet Army Chorus and Band, conducted by Boris Alexandrov.

PLEASE NOTE: I will not sell anything for less than $9.99, as it’s not worth packaging the item up and taking it to the Post Office. Sure, you can buy an LP for 50 cents or less at a yard sale, but will it have been cared for like mine? Not likely.
