VAN DER GRAAF GENERATOR Godbluff (Charisma 6369 965) RARE German 1st Pressing MINT!
RARE German first pressing of Van Der Graaf Generator`s "comeback" album "Godbluff" on Charisma Records (October 1975).
As close as it gets to perfection, apart from a sealed record, this copy comes from my own collection. I bought the album in new, unplayed condition in the late seventies. It has been played exactly once and is absolutely perfect.
Tentatively referred to as Van Der Graaf Generator`s "punk album" among VDGG cognoscenti, "Godbluff" is a companion piece of sorts to Peter Hammill`s solo album of the same year, "Nadir`s Big Chance". Steven McDonald at allmusic.com says it very well:
"Following the release of Pawn Hearts, bandleader Peter Hammill took time out to develop a solo career, choosing to focus his energy on darkly introspective works that seemed to be intended to examine the personal consequences of his life. When it came time for reuniting the members of Van Der Graaf Generator, this change in direction had its effect on the band's post-1975 music. While the musical structures continued to be complex and dense, there seemed to be far less accent on the demonstration of musical skill than had formerly been the case. (...) There was sturm und drang to come, but the music had been opened up and the lyrics had developed more focus, often abandoning metaphor in favor of statement. Godbluff was a bravura comeback -- only four cuts, but all were classics."
GRADING:
MINT(-) COVER in practically perfect condition. Please see photos for details.
- Near-perfect laminated gatefold sleeve that still fully retains its original shine and lustre.
- Small horizontal line of hardened glue from original production process (!) on back cover (at top).
- Includes original insert/lyric sheet in MINT- condition.
- Also comes in original inner sleeve, correctly date-stamped "28/75" at bottom right.

MINT(-) RECORD, practically pure perfection.
- Perfect vinyl on both sides, with impeccable audio reproduction throughout.
- The record was bought new in the late seventies. It has been played exactly once. 
- No hairlines, scuffs, spindle wear or any other visible signs of previous play at all!
- Original Charisma Records "mad hatter" labels, pure perfection.
- The matrix stamps in the run-off grooves read "AA 6369 965 1Y 1 670" and "AA 6369 965 2Y 1 670".
- This record is hereby certified to be an original German first pressing of "Godbluff", released in October 1975.
PLEASE NOTE: Not to be compared with the more-often-than-not substandard vinyl on offer on eBay, this item is in honestly-graded MINT(-) condition.
