Description
Up for auction is a nice original pressing of the Van Morrison album Moondance, originally released in the U.S. on Warner Bros. (WS 1835) in 1970:
-Guaranteed original pressing, NOT recent reissue -Original olive green WB labels -Matrix reads:
39621 WS1835 39622 1B

-Tambourine on "Into The Mystic"
-Original gatefold cover with "Stoned Me" title misprint -Original and correct WB inner sleeve (tape repair)
-No UPC/bar code on cover -NOT record club pressing -Vinyl comes in poly audiophile protective inner sleeve
Note: Original pressings like this one have Van Morrison playing the tambourine on "Into The Mystic", but the tambourine was removed on second and later pressings.
Condition: Cover is nice. Moondance covers are notorious for being prone to wear, but this one has been preserved better than many. Unless you find one in original shrink wrap, it will almost be guaranteed to have rubbing wear. This one has light rubbing top and bottom middle, and some light ring wear on back. Seams are nice, light rub here and there, no splits. Interior is clean. Overall, a nicely preserved, attractive original. Grade: Very Good Plus Plus (VG+)
Vinyl is also very nice, still retains its original shine. Has a few faint superficial scuffs and hairlines, but nothing deep or serious, nothing that should affect the sound quality which is excellent. Labels are clean, no wear to spindle holes. Looks like this record has been played a few times but handled with care.
Spot-Tested: Has a little typical faint surface noise on the run-in groove, but once the music kicks in, the audio quality is excellent for an early '70s WB pressing. Grade: Visual: Very Good Plus (VG+)
