Description
Up for auction is a rare, original promo copy of the Van Morrison album Veedon Fleece originally released in the U.S. on Warner Brothers (BS 2805) in 1974:
-Guaranteed original pressing, NOT reissue -Original matte textured paste-down cover -Correct 'Burbank' palm trees WB promotional labels -1A first pressing etched in deadwax
-Original and correct WB inner sleeve
-Vinyl comes in poly audiophile inner sleeve
-NOT record club pressing -No UPC/bar code on cover
Condition:
Cover is beautiful, no significant signs of wear, age or handling. No ring wear, no seam splits, no cracking to seams, which is common with this cover, just of hint of rub to edges here and there, not significant. Corners are sharp, not bumped or creased, just a hint of rub (see photo). Nicest example of this promo cover I've come across in 40 years of collecting.
Grade: Excellent Plus (EX+)
Vinyl is nice, still has its original glossy shine. Side One shows a couple noticeable superficial scuffs that can't be felt, and on Track One there's a light squiggly needle mark, but none of these visible marks affect the quality of playback. Side Two looks clean. Labels are clean, no marks around spindle holes, no wear. Looks like this record has maybe been played only a couple times at most previously but handled with care.
Spot Tested: the audio playback quality is nice, a little typical faint pressing noise on run-in grooves, but once the music kicks in, it's not distracting. A nice play copy, though not visually perfect.
