GHOST PARTY / SEI COME LEI ... 7-inch, 45rpm single by VAN WOOD. Original Italian pressing on the DURIUM label (CN A 9132), from circa 1964. Super-obscure release by the cult guitarist and songwriter living in Italy. Never seen before item so a new discovery for us, at least! Lots of treated guitar FX with Joe Meek / UK Triumph label / grindhouse R&B sleaze influences on the brilliant and maverick sounding GHOST PARTY theme. Primitive production with proto garage / twangy rock 'n' roll rhythms and manic horror movie screams a la spooky '50s carnival fun ride / Vampires Of Dartmoore - Dracula's Music Cabinet et al. Great for DJs. A cool european Rockabilly example of the Jukebox Jam / Jazzman sound. Brilliant picture sleeve artwork showing the leader with his legendary and unique "custom" Gretsch white Falcon guitar. Alternative example of early Durium artwork on the label too. Never comes up for sale. Very rare 45!!!
Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG
Vinyl is in strong VG++ condition (closer to M-) with a few light hairlines and pressing marks. Taken from an unplayed deadstock of records and played once for the recording of the soundclip. The delicate paper picture sleeve is in strong VG+ condition with ring creasing and some general wear from storage. Dirt marks to back sleeve. Archive number pen notations to front and back sleeve. Very rare 45!!!
