Description

This is Vanguard VRS 1051 (mono), US pressing. Mischa Elman, violin, performs in the "Elman Jubilee Record, Celebrating 50 years of Violinistic Triumph."

Joseph Sieger accompanies Elman in a matchless selection of encores and miniatures: Massenet's "Meditation," Arensky's "Serenade," Schumann's "Traumerei," Cui's "Orientale," Drigo's "Valse Bluette," Sulzer's "Sarabande," Sarasate's "Zigeunerweisen," Schubert's "Ave Maria," Dvorak's "Humoresque," Gossec's "Gavotte," Chopin's "Nocturne," Schumann's "The Prophet Bird," Beethoven's "Minuet in G," and Tchaikovsky's "Melodie.".

The vinyl shows some a few faint marks, plays as an overall strong VG+ (long stretches sound like NM to me, though). Jacket has light wear & rubbing, so VG+. A fine copy of a rather scarce record. Oddly, this mono version has much closer, cleaner and focused sound than the stereo issue, thus I suspect it derives from an entirely different mono master tape, and isn't the two stereo tracks summed up.
