Description
You are bidding on a MEGA RARE vinyl LP released in 1989. Titled ‘0222: A Compilation Of Cardiff Bands’ (0222 was the city’s phone code at the time), the LP showcased various bands from the Welsh city, with all tracks being recorded in the Popdy studio in nearby Newport – Popdy Records appears to have only released this LP. Genres range from R&B and soul to pop and jazz, with four bands of the indiepop / twee / C86 / DIY persuasion making this collectable!
They are: Cwrw Bach ‘Mae'n OK’ (Welsh language); Papa's New Faith ‘This House’; Crumblowers ‘Gwair Gwair Ni Yw'r Crumblowers’ (Welsh language) and U Thant ‘Tren’ (Welsh language). Members of Crumblowers and U Thant went on to play in SUPER FURRY ANIMALS, while Bomb & Dagger, another band on here, feature Spike ex of WEEKEND and REPTILE RANCH. The LP looks to have been unplayed and I’d say both it and the sleeve are NM. I doubt many of these made it far beyond Cardiff so pick up a rare gem!
