Does what it says on the tin, this one from Wagram: it's a collection of Sting's greatest hits, reimagined and performed by some of the best names jazz has to offer. Each track is thoughtfully interpreted so as to blend Sting's timeless songwriting with rich improvisation and lush harmonies. Paola Arnesano for example, brings cascading keys and steamy sax lines to 'Roxanne' while Andy Bey's 'Fragile' has a tender late-night delicacy to its more sombre brass. The Lisa Bassenge Trio's 'De Doo Doo Doo De Da Da Da' is a quiet, late-night piano jazz gem. A fine tribute that bridges pop brilliance with jazz mastery.
