MINT 1970 UK PHILIPS TEST PRESSING--UNBELIEVABLE !

Here is a tremendous acid/folk/psych raritiy--a 1970 UK Philips test pressing of the original issue of Vashti Bunyan's all time classic "Just Another Diamond Day."

We have never heard of another test pressing of this ultra rare album, and this one is in spectacular EX++/ NM condition. The disc looks as if it's been played a few times at most--just super shiny and beautiful. The labels have "1" and "2" written lightly in pencil on the respective sides. The original inner sleeve, dated 0970 has "Vashti Bunyan" and 6308019" (the catalog number) written in pen. There are 6 light ticks audible during "Come Wind Come Rain" that are barely noticeable--otherwise this plays beautifully.

Making this really interesting is the fact that side 2 has a slightly different matrix number from the released version, though it sounds identical to the album that was released. The matrix on Side 2 of the test pressing reads 63 08019 X 1Y (upside down triangle) 2 - 11 2. My original Philips copy reads
63 08019 X 2Y // 1 - 11 1.) This would indicate for some reason the first cut was rejected and a second cut made of Side 2, which was the one used.

The gatefold cover is in EX++ condition with some extremely minor wear, but bold, clean and free of writing or any other flaws. When we obtained this there was a small sticker tear less than 1/2" square just to the left of the horses left ear. We had a high end professional paper conservator retouch this area and it is now absolutely undetectable--but we always mention any restoration (the last photo is a close up of the area where this ultra small restoration occurred--as you can see it truly is undetectable.)
