Description
Yes, this is the Real Deal.
On offer is an original stereo 1967 copy of The Velvet Underground & Nico, U.S. issue Verve V6 5008. Perhaps Lou Reed's finest hour.
It has the cover painting banana by Andy Warhol with the peelable outer skin. This banana peel has NEVER been even partially removed. I have owned this album from new and can assure you of that.
The record plays great, sounds stunning -- full and crisp. The vinyl has most of its original shine and gloss. Under a strong light you can see a few fine hairlines and other superficial marks.
The playback is great. There is the occasional bit of light crackle, and a pop or click here and there. Between some tracks there's a touch of light static or surface noise. But unless you want to pay for Near Mint (if it can be found), I don't think you'll be disappointed by the sound.
So the vinyl grades Excellent Minus by the Record Collector definition of Excellent -- "The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality."
The labels are Excellent Plus, showing only a slight spindle mark or two.
The gatefold sleeve is in Excellent condition, showing only the slightest of wear. One issue is some slight discolouration to the white of the front and back. I think this may have something to do with the paste or glue that holds the sleeve together. It's a light tan colour that seems to be coming from within the cardboard. I may be wrong. See the photos to decide if it bothers you. The inside of the gatefold is Excellent Plus. The record comes in a plain white inner sleeve.
You can see in the photo the back cover of the sleeve. There are several versions or stages to this back photo. But it's a long story I won't go into. As I say I bought this album new. From 1972 until 2004, it was stored, unplayed, upright on a shelf in Oklahoma.
The postage and packing rates that I am charging include "signed-for" delivery and the Royal Mail's version of insurance. So a possible buyer and I should not have to worry.
Please ask if you have any questions and note that from outside the U.K. I ONLY ACCEPT PAYMENT THROUGH PayPal.
