Description

You are bidding on an ORIGINAL 1977 first press of VERTICAL SLIT Slit and Pre-Slit. This is NOT the  re-issue from Smudge Records. This ORIGINAL private  pressing debut by Jim Shepard and Vertical Slit  has long been a holy grail item on many a collector's list . These 1st pressings very rarely shows up for auction. The last one to sell went for $1400.00. Originally released on a vanity pressing of 100 copies and were all given away by Jim personally.  

My husband was Ropeburn Records of South Bend Indiana and he worked on projects with Jim in the 1980s. They put out Vertical Slit, Negotiate Nothing and Psychic Dance Hall on cd.  Jim gave this to him as a thank you for all the work he put into it.

 Legend has it almost 1/4 of the pressings ended up in the hands of luminaries such as Todd Rundgren, John Cale, Lou Reed, Robert Fripp & Peter Hamill to name a few. This is considered the holy grail of record collectors 

This copy features a hand colored (in crayon) front and back cover done by Jim Shepard. . There is a section on the front that states "Listener" and "Artist".   Jim filled these areas out in various colors of  crayon.

As I said it is not a perfect copy but this is an extremely rare record and a great addition to any record collection.

I am only going to ship this with insurance and delivery confirmation.  Please keep this in mind as the shipping cost can get pretty pricey. I will ship with with complete security so it does not get damaged.
