Description
THE VERVE / VERVE / VERVE UK
Voyager 1
The album was recorded live in London and New York City during 1992. Four of the six tracks appear on other Verve albums or EPs, those being "Gravity Grave" and "She's a Superstar" on Verve EP; and "Slide Away" and "Already There" on A Storm in Heaven.
Only 1000 clear blue vinyl copies were pressed, making the ownership of this album a collectors item. However, 300 of the copies were ruined in transit from Britain to the States, making this even rarer. Black vinyl copies do exist, however the amount of copies is unknown.
"One Way to Go"
"One Way to Go" was featured as a B-side to "All in the Mind", The Verve's first ever single release, in 1992. The song remained in the band's playlist for only a short period, being dropped before the Gravity Grave Tour of October 1992.
"South Pacific"
"South Pacific" was another song never recorded in the studio. The song received favourable reviews, akin to "an ocean crashing down about your ears" . The song remained in their live set for a long while, still being performed at the start of the Paris tour. It was also performed live at Camden Town Hall
"Already There"
"Already There" was recorded in the studio in 1993 for the album A Storm in Heaven. The song is very "hazy" and psychedelic, with Richard Ashcroft's voice synthetically altered and the guitars on high distortion.
- "Slide Away" – 6:02
- "Gravity Grave" – 8:26
- "One Way to Go" – 5:58
- "South Pacific" – 3:59
- "Already There" – 4:45
- "She's a Superstar" – 6:45
I got this album in the early 1990s. The band stopped by my radio station WHFS, and I had them all sign it in gold Sharpie. (I've had SO MANY famous people sign things with that Sharpie). Kurt Cobain used the same one.
There were 1000 pressed, but only 700 exist because 300 were ruined in transit from the UK to the US. So this is one of only 700 that exist. And I'll bet NONE of them are as sexy as this signed copy!!!
Richard Ashcroft drew gold lips on the cover model.
The album is unplayed.
I'm not excited to send this overseas as things seem to go missing a lot, but I'll consider it. I'll ship this priority in the USA!
