Used "Little Wonder" and similar dual and single sided records and a key (included) spring wound mechanism.    The Baby Jeannette Novelty was founded in 1904 and began I glass making and new found material such as celluloid (plastic).

 

The record player has purposely not been re-painted  (watch antique road show) so as not to diminish its value and also to give it the unique colors and character of a by-gone era.  Used mainly as a young child's toy.   This Baby Jeanette is a great conversation piece and standard 7" -10" 78 rpm records are available on line or on Ebay.  None are included with the player.  Used a standard straight steel pin needle and transferred the sound thru the celluloid head. 

 

This is a compact (about 12" X 12"), all-metal miniature wind-up phonograph in working condition. The metal base measures roughly 7" x 7" x 3". The reproducer is intact, and transmits sound. The key is present, and when wound, the spring driven motor runs for quite awhile. The felt on the 7 inch turntable appears to be original, and the finish on the metal base also appears original, with some small flaking near the feet. I have photographed the underside of the machine, showing the motor and spring. There is a speed adjustment knob on the underside. The motor winds through a hole in the turntable. The card which accompanies this machine indicates that it was manufactured by the Jeannette Toy & Novelty Co. of Jeannette, PA, and it gives maintenance recommendations "Keeping the machine oiled is of the utmost importance", etc. and also recommends playing 10 inch records.
