Description
VERY RARE GATEFOLD BOOK VERSION OF UNKLE'S CLASSIC PSYENCE FICTION ALBUM.
I think this is quite simply one of the most stunning examples of the art of record packaging and design I have ever seen.
The sleeve is actually a hardback book, which folds open from the middle of the front.
Inside each side flap has attached book pages, which feature Futura's illustrations and collaborators on the album (DJ Shadow, James Lavelle, Thom Yorke, Kool G. Rap, Richard Ashcroft, Mike D. etc).
The artwork was designed by longstanding Mowax/Unkle designer Ben Drury (assisted by Andy Holmes) and they excelled themselves on this project, incorporating and showcasing Futura's illustrations in an outstanding manner.
The album itself is presented on 2 * 12"s, each with their own unique sleeve art.
To top it all, the album also comes with a Psyence Fiction/Unkle/Mowax family tree, that shows the connections between the different collaborators. Again this also features Futura's Stickman figures.
All in all, this version of the album and it's design perfectly compliments the album and captures the creative work done around it.
Condition: Book sleeve, inner pages, vinyl inserts and vinyl all in very good condition. Unkle map has a phone number written on the reverse, in small, light pen (about 2cm * 2cm).
This is from my own personal collection, bought at the time of release and has been stored and looked after carefully. It will be missed but it's time to make some space!
