Here is an amazing rarity. Far rarer than Berliner discs or practically any label in recording history (save for a few exceptions)



The first of Eldridge Johnson's records. The Consolidated Gram-o-Phone Record.


These records were only sold September to early November of 1900. Their numbers are quite small, as they had such a short production life. This was due to Johnson loosing the right to use the term or word Gramophone.


By November of 1900 the Improved Record label replaced the Consolidated one. Gives the idea of how rare they are.


Only 145 copies were made of this record. Take 1, Sept 25 1900....Making this take remarkably rare too.


This copy is Sally by Albert Campbell.

He is introduced by the head of the recording department, Calvin Child.

On the back of the record is the red labeled warning. That warning as well as the rare Label is in remarkable condition.


The record itself is in good plus condition for what it is. These were often not the best sounding recordings as there was a rush to record as much as they could. What it is, is the amazing part of this. 


Amazingly, this record was never abused or roughed up. The record still has a bit of shine, as does the label. It was recorded on September 25, 1900.


Here is a rare chance to aquire a true mega rarity in sound recording history in very good condition.


The record plays all the way through without skipping or hung grooves. The playing surface like many recordings of this time is a bit lumpy with dips and raised areas on the disc. These sound with light thumps on my turntable, I'm sure not on an original machine.

I believe the stamper had issues as only "145" copies were made of it!
